If you don’t have friends who support you in making your life magnificent, find new friends.
Avoid the “crab in the bucket” syndrome. This is where your friends often try to pull you back “down” because your change is too uncomfortable for them.
This “syndrome” gets it’s funny name from the fact that when you put several crabs in a bucket, when any one starts to climb out, the others get so excited they try to climb out on it’s back, pulling it back into the bucket and dooming them all.
When we step out of our “comfort zone” to make a change, it challenges the comfort zones of our peers, and even though they may love you like crazy, they will either pull you back down, or try to climb out on your back.
You can avoid the situation and build great connections by associating with people who love you enough to want to see you successful and happy. Find a peer group who already has what you want and they will help pull you out of your old bucket.
