Enter Your Email to Be Notified When Discounted Tickets Become Available
I received this question via email today from one of our clients: "If the subconscious mind cannot reason, question, or reject the command you give it through hypnosis, why can't we suggest to it through hypnosis that we make $1,000,000 in 12 months and then expect the subconscious mind to show me the ways? It seems that my subconscious mind is always sabotaging my goals, even when I use hypnosis to suggest the outcome."
This is a fantastic question, and I'm so happy this client asked it, because I believe the answer can help so many people.
Let's first start by clearing up a myth:
It is a myth that the subconscious mind cannot reject. The subconscious mind can definitely question or reject a suggestion. It doesn't do this based on logic (as the conscious critical factor does), but rather based on values. If I tried to hypnotize you to kill your family, jump off a bridge, or rob a bank, your subconscious mind would reject that suggestion.
To answer your question, you can absolutely hypnotize yourself to make $1M in 12 month as a suggestion, but there are two considerations with this:
First, is your subconscious mind in alignment on all layers of the mind in order to do the behavior and get the result? As a reminder, the layers of the mind are:
Identities
Values
Beliefs
Potentials
Behaviors
Results
Each level exerts power over, and trickles down on all of the layers below it. If I give you suggestions that only focus on the bottom-layer result of $1M, the suggestion is not very powerful and the chances of it happening are pretty slim. If I instead suggest you to do the required behaviors and also suggest you to get the result, the chances are greater, because behavior exerts power over and trickles down to the layer of results.
But, what if I hypnotize you to do an action – say trade stocks – to make $1M, but you do not know anything about stocks trading (Potentials layer)? You will either do the behavior incorrectly, or more likely, will not do it at all. What if you have beliefs that "it's hard" or "I don't deserve it"? What if your values around money have conflicts imprinted upon you from childhood? What if your identity says "that's not who I am" or "I'm not successful"? In those cases, we will either do the behaviors incorrectly, or not at all, and then call it "self-sabotage." In fact, your subconscious mind didn't sabotage you at all. It just wasn't in alignment with the outcome.
This is one reason why I include all layers of the mind in my suggestions when doing hypnosis. Conditioning the other layers for alignment is of the utmost importance to getting the result.

The second aspect is, let's say you do accept the suggestion. Are you being open and listening to the subconscious mind when it does tell you the "how" to do it? Most people have too much conscious noise going on and they second guess their subconscious mind.
The key, once you have alignment is to give your subconscious mind the end result, take inspired action, and then let the subconscious mind tell you the "how" along the way.
