Enter Your Email to Be Notified When Discounted Tickets Become Available
Twenty-three years ago, at just 19 years old, I was homeless.
I wasn’t on drugs or alcoholic. I was just an angry, misguided kid with problems I didn’t know how to handle.
I spent the better part of six months sleeping on a park bench in Tustin Meadows Park in Tustin, California, USA.
I am now homeless again. But not in the way you might think…This time, things are a little different.
For instance, this time I have my wife, Kayla, with me. And instead of living on the street, we’re living in four- and five-star hotels.
After three years of talking about traveling the world, on Valentine’s Day 2015 we decided to stop talking and to start doing.
We set out to take action. MASSIVE action.
We decided to begin traveling the world full-time… indefinitely.
We started by calling the landlord of our beautiful beach house in Corona Del Mar, CA and asking what it would take to get out of our lease four months early. Not really sure what to expect, we were surprised when she said yes and had people knocking on the door to see the home the next day.
Just like that, we had our “Freedom day” within our sights.
This was one of many freedom dates for me: quitting smoking forever (September 6, 1998), leaving corporate America for good (December 6, 2004), ending all toxic relationships in my life and having a higher standard for relationships in my life (June 6, 2011).
This time, our “Freedom” date was March 26th, 2015… and we had less than four weeks to make arrangements and get out.
As we looked at the mass of “stuff” we had collected over the years — both personal and business — the task seemed insurmountable.
What were we going to DO with all of it? What would it mean about us if we were no longer attached to “stuff”?
The next three weeks were a whirlwind. I gave my car to my son, sold my motorcycle. We held an estate sale and either sold, donated or trashed 85% of what we own. Our last loose thread was selling Kayla’s car to the dealership on the day we left.
People kept coming to us with worried looks in their eyes saying things like, “Where will you live?” and “How will you make money?”
The fact is, I’ve been designing my business for just this kind of thing for the last nine years.

I ran Transform Destiny by myself until 2013 when Kayla came on board. My primary focus of Transform Destiny has always been to transform as many lives as I can with as small a “footprint” as possible, and that required me to think about business in a different way.
I have been automating, delegating and eliminating “stuff” for years, so my business practically runs itself.
Now we had to do the same thing with our life.
