One of the biggest issues we have facing us in the modern world is that people have been conditioned to believe that health is not a personal responsibility.
Society blames health on our genetics, our upbringing, our environment, our government (or lack of government), for-profit corporations, our age... anything BUT the personal choices we have made and the personal choices we continue to make each and every day.
People have been conditioned to believe that health primarily comes in a bottle full of chemicals, reactively given to you only through the permission of a medical system that has assumed far more power than it can competently handle. THIS is primarily why we are in the position of health we are in today as a society...
Even with things such as COVID, which are seemingly outside of our control, we are told that healthy people are at extremely low risk of being affected by the virus, even if exposed to it. Many people with healthy immune systems are even asymptomatic if they do catch it.
What is the real risk when it comes to COVID? Co-morbidities.
For example, the most deadly co-morbidities with COVID are obesity (which often results from poor food and activity choices), COPD and lung disease (which often results from poor activity choices and poor behavioral choices like smoking and vaping), and chronic deficiencies, such as vitamin D and zinc (which often results from poor food choices, lack of time in the sun, and lack of supplementation).
We have been taught to think that we are victims of poor health, rather than the cause of it.
This isn't to say that there aren't things that happen with our health that are out of our control. But there are so many things that are within our control, which most people ignore.
Take back control. In NLP, we call this "being at cause." Reprioritize your values when it comes to things concerning your health and take action that will make you a healthier human being from today forward, and that includes recognizing how much our minds and our mindsets play a role in our overall health.
